Sandra Ashmore (SASH)
Watercolor, Mixed Media

This southern born artist/photographer spent her youth listening to Delta blues music, opera and the spirituals of cotton pickers.  Living in Connecticut as an adult, she continued listening to music, but it was music of Broadway shows, live operas, and the diverse music of the melting pot called the Northeast.  The stories expressed through  the music filled her soul.   Using  watercolors, Chinese brush art, and photography has allowed her to capture the stories of the “music of life”.

Sandra is mostly self-taught putting her outside the circle of the norm, but she feels this provides her more freedom of true creative expression, rather than  just techniques.  Her studio contains a very large art library to aid her in learning more and more about art, its techniques, colors, and history.  Her paintings have won many ribbons in juried art shows over the years and have been purchased by art lovers throughout the United States.  Sandra also teaches private lessons from her studio for beginners to more advanced artists of all ages.

Currently, she is exploring the world of digital art, clay and metal sculpture, hand painting on silk, as well as creating her Green Environmental  Series of wooden sculpture.  She uses many different kinds of woods, such as butternut, maple, walnut, etc. using a special formula, which brings out the natural color of the wood.

Art is a continuous learning experience, which makes the joy of creating an art within itself.
