UCAA’s quarterly meeting is Monday June 16, 2008, 4:30 at UCAA Gallery in Cookeville mall


There are over 2 dozen artists that have signed up to participate in the Fresh Air Arts Festival on Saturday June 21st. We have two great musicians, Bob Gunter and Tony Drake.  These musicians bring classical, blues, jazz, and popular music to our Fresh Air Arts Festival in Granville Veterans Park. (If you still want to participate in FAAF, call 931-265-0338, one or two tent spaces are left, but no pavilion space is available)


UCAA’s 2nd annual Gourd Gala is slated for Friday and Saturday July 25 and 26, 2008, at the Cookeville Mall ...Maxine Osborn is the chairperson for this event.  Any questions or comments can be directed to Maxine at pigroast@twlakes.net.  This event is open to vendors inside and outside the Upper Cumberland Counties of Tennessee.


ON THE BEATEN PATH summer event – Saturday, June 7, 2008- - -

Smithville, TN is the place to enjoy fine crafts, music, art and food!   See your favorite artists from the OFF THE BEATEN PATH STUDIO TOUR all in one location. This event is held in the Downtown Smithville Park (located across from the Smithville Post Office at intersection of East Main & Hwy 56 South)


 

UCAA and Granville join forces

Upper Cumberland Arts Alliance is sponsoring an Arts and Cultural Center in Granville, Tn.  This Arts and Cultural center is located in the upstairs in the T.B. Sutton General Merchandise store. The Grand Opening ribbon cutting ceremony of the Granville Arts and Cultural Center sponsored by Upper Cumberland Arts Alliance will be at 10:00 am on June 21st. This center will be open Wednesday through Saturday 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The UCAA will have responsibility for obtaining arts and crafts for the Granville center.  We will use the same criteria as we have used for the UCAA Gallery, except that we will accept work from other counties.  The artists will keep 70% of the selling price; UCAA and Granville will split the other 30%. The Sutton store is also the home of “Suttons Ole Time Music Hour” each Saturday night. The warm up starts at 6:00 pm and radio taping starts at 7:00 pm. The Ole Time Music Hour is broadcast each Saturday 10:00 to 11:00 am on WTKY FM 102.7, WTKY AM 1370, and WCOR AM 1490.

An all-you-can-eat family style southern meal is served at Sutton’s Store on Saturdays at 5:00 and 6:30 pm. Reservations are made by calling 931-653-4151, and are highly recommended.

The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee will sponsor 3 workshops this summer that are very informative for artists and art organizations. The cost is $30.00 per day and that includes lunch. 

The July 1, 2008, subject is “Mining for Gold: How to Identify and Develop Your Best Donor Prospects”

On August 19, 2008, the subject is “The Art of Making the Ask: Cultivating the Major Gift”

On October 21, 2008, the subject is “Financials and Fundraising: Making Them Work Together”

Cumberland Artisans for Creative Expression (CACE)

Says to add this festival to your calendar!

Artisans are invited to apply for participation in Fine Arts - Fine Crafts Fall Artisan Festival to be held on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at the Community Complex in Crossville, TN.  It will be held inside the exhibit buildings where art pieces and display spaces are protected from weather. Formerly this event was for Cumberland County artisans only, this year the festival is open to regional artisans.  This festival is juried.  A Silent Auction of art pieces and donations from businesses is held in conjunction with the festival.  Guidelines and application form is available via the CACE website:  www.cumberlandart.com.  Personal contact is Wilma Emling at 931-456-7954, Betty Zarnitz at 931-456-6946, or Sharron Eckert at 931-277-5425.  Application deadline is mid-June.
