SPACE /
DISPLAYS
The Fresh Air Arts
Festival is an outdoors, rain-or-shine event. The park
slopes from Highway 53 down to the shores of Cordell Hull
Lake. A sidewalk runs through the park, and there are
bricks-and-mortar restroom facilities, a performance gazebo
and two covered pavilions.
Artists
whose set-up includes a tent or canopy will be set up near
the front, or top, of the park. The pavilions and lower
section of the park, which includes the shoreline, will be
reserved for painters. Both include wooden picnic tables and
benches that painters can use for their supplies and tools.
Artists may
apply for either a standard 12x12 space or for a smaller
space appropriate for uncovered table-top displays or for
setting up an easel. More than one artist may occupy a 12x12
booth space; chapter or club booths are welcome. There are
approximately 60 booth/easel spaces available. UCAA makes
all booth assignments, although requests for specific spaces
or arrangements (adjacent booths or spaces, for instance)
will be accommodated if at all possible. All artists must
provide their own tents/canopies, booth furniture, tables,
chairs and easels.
DISPLAY
SET-UP
All displays must be
set up the day of the event between 6 and 10 a.m. Artists
should be ready to greet the public promptly at 10 a.m.
There will be no security for artists who want to set up
their booths the night before, and park regulations do not
permit artists to stay overnight on the premises.
Artists
using tents or canopies will be positioned on either asphalt
(in a parking area near the roadway) or along a sidewalk
through the upper grassy area of the park, which gently
slopes down to the waterfront. These artists are encouraged
to bring stakes and shims. Please respect your neighbors --
and our musical artists: No music is allowed in booths or
spaces, nor any other disruptive sounds, smells or other
distractions.
Water is
available for painters at the restroom facilities.
Electricity is available only to painters setting up in the
pavilions.
The park is
wheelchair accessible. With advance notification, UCAA
volunteers can assist artists with disabilities with display
set-up or other needs.
UCAA
assumes no liability for any injury or loss of merchandise.
ARTIST
AMENITIES
A bricks-and-mortar
restroom facility is available. UCAA will provide volunteer
booth sitters on request. Food and drink are available at
the Granville Market (across the highway from the park) and
the historic Sutton Store downtown (just two blocks from the
park), which will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nearby
parking for artists will be available.
