Lorrie Webb
(Photography)
Lorraine Smagala Webb was born and raised in the Brandywine Valley Area of Delaware, only a stone's throw away from Chadd's Ford, Pennsylvania and the vibrant artist community working there. Early exposure at the Delaware Art Museum to Andrew Wyeth and Howard Pyle were no doubt the spark that would later manifest itself in her photography. Lorraine sites "Let Us Now Praise Famous Men" and Dorthea Lange in particular as major influences. She has exhibited at vari ous galleries and fairs in Tennessee and Kentucky as well as having been selected to exhibit at the grand opening of The Renaissance Center in Dickson, Tennessee.
STATEMENT
It saddens me that we have lost and continue to lose so m;uch of who we are and where we came form. Real mystery lies in the simple things. The forgotten things. The bend of the train track, the broken window in an abandoned fallen down house. That entire lives have passed here is no small wonder to me. I photograph these things because they are important and I fear they will soon disappear.
