I have always loved art and photography. As a child I was able to take some drawing classes but it wasn’t until college that I was introduced to clay. I took an intro to throwing class as an elective and was hooked!  I immediately changed my major. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Appalachian Center for Crafts in Smithville, Tennessee.  
 
Over the years I have done production work for other artists but have found there is nothing more satisfying than being in my own studio for hours on end.  I find that the clay has endless possibilities for textures and shapes that are constantly feeding my imagination.  I always enjoy trying new techniques and forms to challenge my skills.   
 
I am currently living on the beautiful Collins River in McMinnville, Tennessee. Here the natural beauty and wildlife in my own back yard are awe inspiring and keep my imagination fueled.   I sometimes pick leaves and flowers to use as inspiration and textures in much of my work. I like for my work to be functional and not just put on display. I want each piece to invite the viewer in to touch, use, and enjoy in everyday life. It is my hope that others find as much joy from using my pottery as I have found in making it.  Beauty is all around us…all we have to do is open our eyes and look!
